Hmm....heard this for years, so after a quick google, it looks like an estimated 5% may carry leprosy, and 95% of humans are immune to leprosy, and transmission is difficult, even with direct contact. Just don't go kissing a lot of 'dillos! .

I wonder why they made it illegal to have them as pets if the chance is so low?
