Ummm, no, we don't. I've lived both north and south of the river, and quite a few people who actually have lived in both areas and have lived in Austin for decades consider immediately south of the river (down to Ben White) to be to be part of Central Austin, albeit the south of the river part So we don't "all know it". YOU "know it", for what that's worth.

Your WILCO in my book. Because I live South of Ben White and I have qucik access to Congress Avenue, I want to call my neighborhood LOCO as we are lower South Congress. I'll start working on the t-shirts now....

Please. Is Travis High School in "Central Austin"? Of course not.

I never really thought of anything south of the river as 'central', per se. I always considered the captiol to be the center of the city and never really thought about where central Austin 'ended'. I guess kind of at the river to the south, and maybe 45th or Koenig at the north, and Mopac and I-35 would probably be the west and east boundaries. Of course, I think there is a north central and a south central just north and south of that. And then there is North Austin past 183 and south Austin past 290. Eh, doesn't really matter, I guess, it is all in my mind, and although I don't necessarily agree with 'we all know it', I have never considered south Congress to be central Austin...

Well, having lived here for some 40 years and watched a great deal of the city being built, I, for one, don't need a "guide" to Austin neighborhoods written by who knows who. I already know where I am whenever I'm in any given part of the city.

Ok here's one summary (Assume MoPac for west boundary, I35 for east boundary):

Central Austin is between 290/Koenig/Allandale and Town lake.
North Central Austin is between 290/Koenig/Allandale and 183/Research.
South Central Austin is between Town lake and 290/Ben White.
Or alternately, call all of the above Central Austin.

North Austin is between 183/Research and 45 at north end.

South Austin is between 290/Ben White and future 45 on south end.
