Me and my buddies used to jump off the lamar bridge into town lake. That was loads of fun on a hot summer day.

I have always heard that the reason swimming in town lake is illegal because the currents between the two dams are very swift just beneath the water surface. You never know when LCRA has both dams open.

I always heard it was because the Green Water Treatment Plant water intake was there so they were trying to prevent that from becoming contaminated.

There are some extremely dangerous currents in the lake, mostly because it is more like a river than a lake. Several deaths over the years were people that were excellent swimmers but got pulled under by odd hydraulics.

Wednesday was evidentally a really bad day for Austin...a suicide off the 360 building....a double homicide in cold blood off-campus(UT)....a guy shot in Georgetown......is it astrological? Something in the water?.......HMMM!....makes one superstitious!

I was thinking that too. For Houston, it's not unusual to hear that many bad news stories in one day but for Austin it is.
