If the motorist left the scene of the accident with a bike in that condition he is either an idiot or was knew he was at fault and was trying to evade responsibility. Either way I hope they prosecute him to the fullest extent of the law with NO PLEA BARGAINING.

Culprit says he didn't get phone "service" where he was....please...right in the heart of the city? So was a Moontower blocking it?......
Actually, this city is growing far too crowded with cars....18,000 new ones in the metro every year......at what point do we build bike lanes so this doesn't happen?........I can't tell you how many times I came inches myself from getting hit, hearing that whoosh sound.....Maybe I'll be next....
sure hope not...

I like the hit bicyclist's reply whan asked if he was alright..."What do YOU think?"....Classic!

BTW, I found the biker that got hit's website...his name is Ross Clurman, and he is a very active participant per biking in Austin.......here is a little bit about him from his own website if you want to read about the poor kid..hope to God he's all right!

Here is his blog....why is it always the most intelligent ones that get hurt....always seems that way.....?

Here's a small pic of Ross...

More pics of him, as a kid, and now....Ross moved to Austin in Jan of this year, and was born and raised in Kansas City...

Ross worked for "The Whelan Group"....a marketing company in Austin, focusing on Education......

Poem written by Ross...

"What friend can you tell every fear to?
Every fault...
And every thought you have?...

The perfect friend would just sit and listen..
Judgement-free..
And as open-minded as a hat..

You could ramble on for hours..
And they wouldn't find something better to do..
They wouldn't change the subject..
Or lose interest in what you had to share.

A friend that didn't care to know your name..
And was blind to what you looked like on the outside..
But could tell the story of your life..
Verbatim.

They never asked you for anything in return..
Their only purpose was to provide an exit..
Temporarily...
From the dilemmas of your day..

I'm sure many think they have a friend..
Similar to mine...

Relax your hand...
You'll put a wrinkle in it..

Well, now you know just a bit more about the soul that just got hit by that car in the hit-and-run....

God, Ross, we hope you're okay...

Sad, but necessary in emergencies, especially for those with medical conditions..
