i am interested in knowing what body type on a women men in this age group (assuming they aren't undergrad students anymore) in austin GENERALLY go for. after i do my stint in israel, im heading to austin and want to know if i will have more success dating there then i do in la. men here seem to believe that if you are not skinny, you are automatically fat. i just tend to have difficulty dating here largely do to how i look imo (i think i am a good package and offer a lot). being attractive (but not hot) and having an okay figure= fat and ugly out in los angeles!

wont affect me moving to austin though either way. i am jealous that you all live in one of my favorite american cities.

I don't know whether there's a general answer to your question about body-type preference, but, on the dating front, it seems to me that in Austin the odds are in your favor. According to City Data, men noticeably outnumber women in Austin for ages 20 to about 35:

how big are we talking? I mean can you blame a guy if your like 200 pounds? However, if your talking about some curves thats fine, but I'm 26 and in good shape and I want a women that is decent shape as well.

Guys like skinny girls here too. However, women who have brains and some passion that's beyond narrow self-obsession but are plainer looking can get a lot further with guys in Austin than in LA, since people aren't as insecure here.

In brief, if you have some developed talent like programming, painting, writing, or some other merit that shows that you know more than just what's in Vogue magazine or which celebrity monster had a baby last week, you'll find this actually has value to many guys in Austin (at least compared to utterly shallow places like LA or Miami.)

For what it's worth, since I've been here (two months), I've actually noticed many couples in your specified age range where the guy is thin/athletically built and the girl is not.
