Hello everyone:
I am planning to move from Chicago (brrrrrhhh...cccolllddd..!!) to somewhere south. Maybe Texas, maybe New Mexico.
I am in the process of surveying/informing myself regarding the driving job opportunities in Austin. Also, the affordable (say from $125,000 to $175,000 price range) and safe housing areas of Austin.
I would appreciate any info, from anyone regarding the above.
Thanks a bunch in advance.

Austin is a pretty safe area overall, but the realtors here could add more regarding your price range. You can find something pretty much anywhere AROUND Austin, such as Georgetown, Leander, Cedar Park, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Taylor, Kyle, Buda, Dripping Springs, etc....

What kind of driving? My husband is an independant contract driver. There's alway SOMETHING around.

Tell us a little bit more about you and we'll be able to help you out better. What size house? (Number of bedrooms, minimum square footage, that kind of thing.) Are schools important? What do you like to do when you're not driving a truck? (So we maybe can point you towards an area that has those kinds of things nearby.)

Well, I have 3 kids that will need to attend High School and Kindergarten. So, yes, schools are important. As far as the home size, about 1500+ sq.ft. 3 or more bedrooms, at least 1.5 baths and a 2+ car garage. I am a home-type-of-guy. Doing home things. Once in a while go out to the movies or dinner with the wife and kids. Normal stuff.
