You can try the Ranch at Brushy Creek development. The schools are between exemplary and recognized by a small margin either way. good parent involvement.

You would find a pretty good choice of houses in your price range.

I would look at Meridian in SW Austin. It meets your criteria, with exemplary schools, plus your commute will not be terrible to DT if you have one, and the houses in that size run at that price by reputable builders such as Standard Pacific, (who built our house last year, and I am quite satisfied with the craftmanship)

Since your husband will be working at home or traveling, there may be other neighborhoods you should consider rather then far North Austin.

SW Austin is closer to town, has and easier commute, with low crime and great schools. Perhaps you should look at places out there like Circle C.

Westlake, Rollingwood, Lakeway, Barton Creek all come to mind.

I was just going to say in her price range, she should look in Westlake and other West Austin areas. A great part of town, with excellent schools, and great access to the rest of the community.

Regarding the question about real estate prices, I suggest this thread

//www.city-data.com/forum/austi...truggling.html

and the newspaper article statesman.com

Home sales slipped 10 % in August from a year earlier, however "Sales pending to close in September were up 10 percent, however. If all of those transactions are completed, September sales would be 18 percent higher than in September 2008."

Yes, the OP can do Westlake and many other highly desirable neighborhoods as long as s/he is willing to go smaller than 3,000-3,500 sq feet. That is a huge limiting factor.

Did you mean NOT a huge limiting factor? I consider 3500 sq ft a really large house. Of course, I live alone in a 1000 sq ft, and the biggest house I've owned is a 1600 square foot home in Lakeway.

I mean that insisting on a house that big will limit her choices and areas. If she absolutely must have a house that big (3000 sq feet), then Cedar Park it is. if they can get along in a somewhat smaller house, then their choices expand.

(Frankly, I think a house that big is just crazy, inefficient, and unsuited to how people really live, you'd never catch me in one that large, but that's just me).

Hi, Thanks for your comments.

I really like to have a big house ( around 3000 sq feet), my parents had a big house and my sister and I had so much fun there!, and I would like the same for my children.

Ranch at Brushy Creek development looks very nice, look like a lot of employers of Dell lives around this area..questions, is Dell the only big technology corporation company in the north of Austin? look like almost all of this kind of companies are a little more in the west central? am I right?
I am just worried that the value of a houses depends of the financial situation of one single company

Thanks!
