I also have no idea how you get onto Mopac from McNeil unless you mean taking McNeil down to 172 behind La Frontera... but the O'Connor extension doesn't help that much more than going down to Deepwood and cutting across to do the same thing. I think the extension hardly (possibly ever so slightly) helps at all for downtown... mainly just helps those in West RR north of 620 to get to La Frontera/south of McNeil easier.

As for the feeder road, the simple answer (assuming we're talking about between McNeil and Mopac) is the train tracks there - and there doesn't seem to be much room to cross the tracks and then elevate up to the highway level.
robino2001, at least the couple times I've taken McNeil-Howard-Mopac, I found it to be a pretty quick and pleasant drive. Certainly a viable alternative to spending 75 cents. About access to Toll 1, yes I did mean via 172. I agree with you that it's not a very desirable way to get onto Toll 1. However, it still seems a little better to me (coming from Great Oaks & 620) than driving north to Deepwood and then cutting across the residential areas along Deepwood.

For the feeder roads, I'm not advocating that we build additional ramps onto SH-45. Simply, extend the feeder roads at ground level through from McNeil to the other side (Louis Henna Blvd). Provides access to Louis Henna Blvd as well as the Toll 1 entrance there.

Another alternative would be to extend Great Oaks drive through McNeil, across the railroad tracks, and have it end at the turnaround just before the end of Louis Henna Blvd. It would accomplish a similar access to Toll 1 and Louis Henna Blvd.
