My husband and I visited Austin, gosh, almost two years ago. We stayed IN Austin and visited the surrounding area i.e. georgetown, kyle, buda, cedar park, and so on. The one thing I found to NOT like was the traffic, obviously. But, we are pretty used to that coming from San Diego. We are a conservative-christian family, who are going to homeschool our three children and are looking to buy a nice piece of property (2-4acres) with a home on it and have goats, a beautiful garden, and maybe more kids. My husband is an electrician and I am assuming he will need to travel into downtown for work. Which area around Austin would you recommend for our type of living?

Default Probably Kyle or Buda

If you're looking for that kind of land, you're probably best looking around Kyle and Buda. There's a lot more open (undeveloped) stretches of land and larger properties out there.

Besides, if you can get a place in the northern part of Buda near I-35, you'd only be about 12-15 miles from downtown Austin.

If you're more well-off, you could check out some of the properties in the Westlake area. They're very expensive, but also very nice with some having very large lots. The added perk here is that it's in the city of Austin, and very close to downtown. Traffic in this area is much better than near I-35, mopac, or 183.

You could also check in the Georgetown//Taylor/Elgin areas. There's quite a few home schoolers in the Georgetown area, for example.

What's your price range likely to be?

Think so. I heard on NPR the other day, they have decided to can the show by November. They are trying to squeeze in as many episodes as they can from the existing footage.

So this is great timing right?
