ARC Hutto has Flumist which does me absolutely no good since my daughter has asthma and can only have injectable vaccine. So, I guess the only lucky ones are relatively healthy people who have no underlying conditions and 2 and 3 yr. olds.

I'm so raging angry about this fiasco I can't even figure out where to start to gripe about it

I'm really scared right now because a friend of mine has some very close friends (practically family) that are currently at Texas Children's watching their 14 yr. old daughter die from this thing. She's still holding on as of this morning but they say there is no more they can do for her and her body is starting to shut down. I don't even know this girl but feel like crying about it because I know that it could very well be my daughter. I'm not sure if she's had a pneumonia vaccine but I'm glad you brought that up because tomorrow I'm going to call her doc and ask about it.

I had the flu, it was miserable, but it was the natural way to go. I've never had a flu shot and never will.

Are you still searching for the flu shot? I took my daughter to the minute clinic at CVS on Gattis for her flu shot. You can contact them to see if they still have it available.

What's the real deal with this vaccine anyways? Do you think it's important to get it? Did you get it?

Waddaya think?
As a nurse, I think it is VERY IMPORTANT to get this vaccine, especially with the large outbreak in Texas initially.

It is not available yet in PA...but I will get it when it becomes available in the next few weeks. As a health care worker, I am in the high risk group so it will be offered to all high risk groups first.

It's important to remember that the nasal mist vaccine is a "live" vaccine, where the injection is a "dead" virus.

LR: I would think that you could get the injection for your daughter being that you live in TX. I think the state of TX has had the vaccine available for awhile now. I could be mistaken...but I thought they were one of the states that had it. I will keep your friends daughter in my prayers. Is she on a ventilator?

There is a very, very small number of doses that were delivered, somewhere around 10% that was supposed tobe or something, so it is very hard to find at any specific location.

My wife is pregnant and she is still waiting for the shot. She visited her OB this morning and while they do have the vaccine, they are distributing it to women that are closest to their due date first.

She ran into a woman in the elevator that is due in Dec and she didn't even get it yet.

I just check with her doctor's office everyday, or check the website. I don't know if the girl was on a ventilator or not. Thanks for the prayers, I know they said they were grateful for every one of them.
