Does anyone in Austin have some good locations to get some free boxes to move with. Any help you can give me would be great I have been relocated to Dallas and don't have much time to move.

Go today - they're all closed on Sundays. Some leave their boxes outside though. Happy Packing!

Not sure where you are... I am in Round Rock. I have some. Probably over 10-15.

If you don't mind paying a little bit, the file boxes at Office Depot are perfect for moving because they are sturdy and have handles and can be moved and stacked by one person. You know, the ones for storing files. It's about $10 for a 10-pack I think, but you have to put them together.

Otherwise, I bought some bigger ones at econobox. I've done the liquor store thing in the past, but it was nice just driving to econobox and loading up on exactly what I needed and being done with it. They also sell all the packing tape and other stuff needed.

Finally, Sams Club has new boxes for cheap also.

Also, if you are using a moving company - they will usually supply the boxes for free. At least, all the companies we interviewed offered that.

Once when I moved I noticed our University was getting rid of computer boxes when they replaced tons of new comptuters in the labs. They were big and medium Apple boxes and were very sturdy. I took about 50-60 of them and they worked perfect. When we moved in near Microsoft in Seattle our neighbors thought some crazy freaks with a bunch of Apple's were moving in and setting up a lab in their house. Every neighbor was very curious what we were doing with so many Apple computers.

Check the libraries and campuses for colleges and schools. Also check hospitals, there are a few new ones going in in RR I believe. If you can find a new mall going up that would be ideal as they are unboxing merchandise.

Another place to check is around any govt building who may be adding PC's. Computer boxes are the best, trust me.

I second this, the boxes are quite cheap and are just the right size for carrying (i.e. they wont be too heavy). Plus because they are all exactly the same size they stack nicely on a dolly and fit evenly in the moving truck.
