It is the lack of seasons. You are probably used to seasonal cues that are lacking or greatly diminished here. As a result, you feel out of place or out of time. Austin is significantly south (roughly at the same latitude as Cairo) and our days do not lengthen and shorten as much as they do up north. There are subtle changes in the quality of the light from the summer to the winter here but your body and circadian rhythms are used to much stronger cues.

It will get better. But even after 20 years, April and November can "feel" very much the same and I can get those momentary jars of feeling like I don't know where in the year we are!

And it wasn't just where I am in the year that was troubling...lol
It was more like what century am I in.
