Okay, bad me for quoting it. Fixed it, though.

If you want the best of both worlds, the Sears Hometown store in Georgetown is great. It has an average selection of appliances, lawn equipment, tools, fitness equipment, and electronics. The difference is that it is owned and operated by a local guy, yet you can get all the same Sears prices. Buying some Kenmore appliances there took me about 7 minutes when I walked in there with the model numbers I wanted. It easily would have taken me 45 minutes in a normal Sears. Since the owner rang everything up for me, he actually knew how to use their computer system and can order anything the regular Sears sells.

If you feel like heading to San Marcos, Heartworks / Paper Bear is the best store ever! Loaded (and I mean loaded) with everything from jewelry, to collectables, to decor, to really cool toys. They also used to have a cat that hung out in the store.

It's right off the square on LBJ Drive.

Why would anyone delete anything here? Seems like a great post so far...i'm not picking up on what bone anyone had with anything on here, but those are all great little places being mentioned....

Just saying shop local, and keep Austin weird is all...didn't know that was a bad thing to say now...

Again, great stores......and thank god we still have plenty of them here!

Not sure. Just respecting the wishes of the OP to delete it. I think that was based upon her/his belief that the post wasn't relevant to the thread.

I'm glad you liked it! I didn't know it was there until a few months after I moved here - my sister came to visit and requested that we go browse a "Texas-y store". I honestly didn't know of one, so I just googled "Texas giftshop - Austin" and BAM! it sprung up. Now it's the official souvenir/gift shop for our family. SO MUCH to see there.
