Looking for a small town (less than 10,000 people would be ideal, no more than 20,000) in Texas near a state hospital where rent for a 3 or 4 bedroom house wouldnt be too high.....and raising 3 kids would be safe.......I have worked in a Nebraska state hospital and have had experiance in the mental health field for 6 years there so would be hoping to get a job at a similar state facility in Texas. I know there are several thru out the state of Texas. Does anyone have any advice on a city and maybe a website where I could look up info on that city? Thank u!

Which came first, the job or the place to live? I think for any Texas state hospital you have to go to the state website and look for open positions. It may be easier to look at what is avaiable and where as far as work is concerned and then look at where to live. The state web site will list all the state hospitals and what positions are open.

There is a State Hospital in Austin, but I'm not sure if it's the only one. I live in a small town about 60 miles (East) outside of Austin & carpool in to work in Austin daily, which takes about an hour. There are 5,000-6,000 people in our town & it's a 3A school. It's a fairly cheap place to live if you don't mind driving an hour to work every day.
