Please school me on where to go and get the best brand/style boots to buy that are:

1. Comfy
2. Stylish
3. Durable
4. Leather/Ostrich/Gator/Snake or ???
5. Affordable

*Think Urban Cowboy. not John Wayne.

Allen's Boots, perhaps. We've gotten fancy boots for our son when he was moving out of state, and I've purchased cheap Ropers there for riding and messing around the barn.

Capitol Saddlery is another option.

There's also Callahan's General Store, whose website appears to be having a cold right now.

Shepler's is another option.

If none of those work for you, come back - there's a TON of places to get boots in Austin and environs!

Good suggestions above. I recommend staying with leather or ostrich and avoiding reptile or exotic materials. First - they are easier to care for. And you probably want to demonstrate conservative or classic style instead of an overtly different material. Just an opinion of course.

"Affordable" is subjective, so I have no idea how much money you're looking to spend. If you can afford $300 plus I'd say go to Cavender's Boot City and get yourself a pair of Lucchese boots.

1. Comfy - Get the walking heel, not the high riding heel.
2. Stylish - Ostrich
3. Durable - Ostrich
4. Leather/Ostrich/Gator/Snake or ??? - Ostrich
5. Affordable - leather

Got mine at Boot Town, 5300 S MO Pac Expy.

I got a nice pair of Lucchese boots at Allen's, classic black leather, with white texas stars as detail. I know they were under $300, but not under $100. Boots last and last, even the "urban cowboy" type so pick carefully.

Vintage boots are another option but you need to get lucky to find a size and style that you like.

All of the above suggestions are great.

My personal favorites are Ariats. I have two pair of cowboy boots and two pair of ropers from Ariat and they are super comfortable, wear very well, and are all quite stylish - even my ropers, which see a LOT of manure, mud, water, and animal blood. A quick clean-up and they look great, year after year.
