Anyone here live in a Green Builders home in Georgetown Village?

Do you find them as energy efficient as they claim? How was the home building process? What's it like in GTV? Lots of kids?

We have been thinking of selling our home in Serenada and building a new one with them. But not sure if we want to give up the peace and quiet and privacy (and pool!) of our current property.

Any feedback/info is appreciated!

I lived in the village for about 6-7 years, first in a David Weekly, then last year moved to a Green Builders and have been loving it. Didn't go through the building process, but bought as a spec home. We have 3 kids and there seem to be plenty of peers for them to play with

I wrote a blog article on my website a few months ago at the 1 year anniversary to compare bills with this Green Builders home and my previous home and even though my home is 2 stories and 20% bigger, I still paid less in utilities! It was a hotter summer too!

Anyway, you might even consider keeping your home in Serenada and renting it out too! That's what I did with my old home. Good luck and let me know if I can help some more!

Edward

I've had one set of clients buy a Green Builders home in Georgetown Village, built from scratch, and they seem to be quite happy with it. Haven't been there through a full year of utilities yet, though!

Thanks Edward, and THL for your responses.

Edward, I think I ran across your blog while doing some Googling. We don't have kids, so the big issue is: do we want to be in a community with a lot of kids, and so close to neighbors?

I think we'd get a fairly good savings on utilities, though. We'd be buying a house that's about the same size or perhaps a bit smaller. Our current house has old windows and is not the least bit energy efficient.

So, what you're looking for is something like you have now in terms of type of neighborhood, but with a home with "greener" features?
