Use it the way you want. I happened to have formal dining room type furniture (sideboard, china cabinet), so I just kept mine as a formal dining room that will probably see actual dining maybe once or twice a year. I've thought about holding dinner parties just so it can get some use. It does have a coax and phone connection though, so it could easily be switched to an office or study (love the idea of french doors).
