Due to my hours being cut at work and wanting to be able to afford my health insurance I'm about to sign up for, I'm looking at ways to save money every month.

I'm thinking of giving up my DSL and returning to dial-up. I haven't been on dial-up in about 4 years - when I lived in California, and not sure what is out there anymore and for how much.

I used to use Earthlink, but I haven't heard anything about them anymore.

Any help? TIA!

AT&T offers a "DSL Basic" package for $19.95 per month. If you have a package above that now, you can downgrade. Dial-up is a thing of the past. Your computer won't even be able to keep up with its needed security updates using dial-up.

Someone just told me about AT&T having a $10 a month DSL plan? I went on the website to check and didn't see it?

Earthlink is still around and has a $9.95 dial-up plan. Connect with EarthLink, the award-winning Internet service provider (ISP) you can trust! They were the best I found back when I used dial-up. Ages ago.

Correction: it looks like that $9.95 is only for 3 months then it goes to $21.95/month. Or you can pay in advance for a whole year and get $12.50/month.

Wow. I didn't know that anyone still used dial-up.

Also remember that with dial-up, your phone line will be tied up whenever you dial in. Saving $10 per month over the basic DSL plan just isn't worth it. Things like streaming video on news sites might not even run. Does your computer even have an analog modem in it? If you purchased your computer in the past couple years, it might not.
