Did you rent it prior to seeing it? If you saw it before signing the lease, I can't understand why you would rent a place that had that many issues. I don't know why the office would have shown it to you like that. It seems like a bad apartment community. Get out if you can.

If you are stuck, hire your own cleaning service to overhaul it for your own peace of mind.

This happened to me in Minnesota once, the apartment was a big filth pit, and the caretaker came and clean it when we were gone and did a crap job. The place had food under the stove and crap all over the place and mold in the toilet. The caretaker eventually got fired because she never cleaned, and to many people complained. Apartments love to screw people and don't give a crap about you. So sorry this happened to you. I also got a ton of my deposit taken away for not cleaning it when we moved out, to this day I am still pissed.

I think you're basically out of luck.
