Austin does not have a professional sports team. I am not talking about soccer either.

They do have the Austin Toros though which is part of the NBA-D League. You can actually catch some games on Versus and the SA Spurs own this team. There uniforms are very familiar to the Spurs.

Unless I am dreaming, Temple (60 miles N. of Austin on I-35) had a Carl's Jr in the early 80s. It maybe lasted a year. Was there a time that they were in TX?

TJ's has some sort of mystical hold on people. To me, it's a reasonably-priced store where I can get some unusual items and prepared foods and it's almost always difficult to find a parking space. Aside from that, it's really not that big a deal. All the same, I'll be adding it to my list of places I shop (which currently includes Whole Foods, Sun Harvest, HEB, Fresh Plus, Central Market and Sprouts.)
I can't afford Whole Foods I love Trader Joes because I can get everything I need often cheaper than a supermarket. I can get ready made meals, great frozen foods, and produce cheap. Because one probably won't be in Austin for awhile, I will most likely just get everything at HEB. My mother goes to a few different markets, and I have to be honest, I would rather have the convenience of getting everything in one store vs. going to a few different places.

Start a garden, freeze your own food, and make your own sauces. Trader Joe's right there.

So, are you actually living in Austin now or are you still in Boston? Gardening is kind of a challenge here.

I miss frozen mangoes for 1.99 a bag. I'm thinking I'd be unsuccessful here trying to grow mangoes.

Gardening shouldn't be that much of a challenge, depending on where you're located in the Austin area. If it were, we wouldn't have had successful community gardens for the past few decades. Plus lots of people have home gardens. Plus, of course, there are the resources such as CSA's, if you don't want to grow your own, or the farmers' markets. All of which are gardening locally. (Check out Edible Austin for resources.) And we have pretty much an 11 month growing season (counting August right out), if you choose your plants correctly and we don't hit a 50-year drought, of course.

Would the the soccer team be considered semi-pro or pro?

Not too much of a soccer fan.

Maybe it shouldn't be, but it is for someone like me. I can barely keep my current landscape alive.
