Lurk here a lot, and husband may have a potential job opportunity over your way.. just wondered if anyone could give me any feed back about these zipcodes for living safety wise, neighborhood wise regarding amenities like shopping etc.. No worries about schools for children, ours are grown. Thanks in advance. The zipcodes are, 78732,78726, 78750, 78746, and 78733

Since no one has answered here, i will try to pose something more specific... husband has an offer to relocate job wise, the work location is in 78726. If we were to look at buying a house looking in the 200,000 area... is that possible? also, trying to find a decent area where his commute would be half hour at most. Is that realistic? Any idea would be helpful as I am trying to research other things on my own, again, thank you in advance. If I am pipe dreaming here that would be great to know too hehe, just trying to figure out our options at the moment.

78746 and 78733 would be furthest from you location and out of your price range for a house. Of the remaining 3 - you might be able to find a property in the 200K range in 78750. That whole area of Austin is going to be fine safety wise. The closer to 620/183 you are, the better the shopping.

None of the areas you are looking at have any crime problems to speak of. You can find the latest crime statistics for 2009 here:

I agree you have a good chance of finding what you are looking for in 78750, as well as 78729, 78613 which are very close, just East of 78726.

You can look up a detailed profile of each zip code here. //www.city-data.com/city/Texas.html

Here is 78750 //www.city-data.com/zips/78750.html
