The city council is using $750k of our tax dollars to help a taco shack relocate so my question is this: If I work from home and my landlord sells the house where I live will the city council give me $750k to help me move?

Are you serious? That city council is infamous for doing weird things. But are you talking about that resturaunt on Congress that is getting booted so a Hotel can go there? If that's the case, you're talking about a local institution, not a taco shack..One thing people should know, we treat our institutions like they're our own families.

Of course this thread is a joke but if the city council goes through with the loan then the lawsuits against the city will be no joke at all.

KEYE did a survey and 82% of respondents do NOT think that Las Maintas should get welfare.

The city council should take notice.

I like the food there but this is a bad decision. 750k so the sisters can move down the street to a building they own? This Fund that the city is using to make the loan only started in February and Las Manitas is the only entity to be granted a loan so far. Again, the food is good but the city has no business giving them a forgiveable loan.

Didn't they also give that nightclub that Burned down a loan? While i was posting above, I had it in the back of my mind that they did own another building (I remember reading about it in the Chronicle). Yes, I agree. City Council needs to stop giving businesses loans to move or rebuild.

Yes, but that was a black owned night club, not a Mexican owned taco shack, and APD officers made some insensitive remarks about the club. The city had to give them money to assuage white guilt.
