So, I'm a Texan who has lived in NYC for 15 years. I went to UT and moved to New York to act. Did commercials, stage, some film, but quit the biz and went back to school to be a teacher. I have always loved Austin, and recently visited with the notion of perhaps moving back in the next year. I'm a single, very youthful looking 39 year old- creative, still love to act and be outdoors, so Austin seems like a good fit. However, what I want to know is if there's still a vibrant dating scene for people in their late 30s and early 40s or are most folks in this age range married with 2.5 kids and living in the 'burbs?

I have not been in the dating scene for a long time, but this discussion thread was similar to yours and might be helpful. //www.city-data.com/forum/austi...0-singles.html

The data I posted in #18 might be useful to you //www.city-data.com/forum/13502700-post18.html

To your advantage, men outnumber women up until age 45. And about half or more of the population in those 30-45 age groups is single.

There is a lively music and club activity in Austin.

Thanks for the info! Glad to know that there's a favorable male to female ratio NYC is definitely challenged in that area.

You will definitely find more educated men in Austin than in San Antonio.
