The weather in SPI is better than in Destin. Destin has many summer days with afternoon thunderstorms whereas SPI is relatively dry, barring a tropical system which usually happens in late summer/early fall.

In the winter, Destin can get down to the 20's on a rare cold front. I don't think SPI ever gets that cold. Now if you compare a similar latitude (Miami), there's no comparison, Miami is much warmer than SPI but Destin is quite cold in the winter, SPI not so much.

yeah, forgot about that rain difference. that whole northern gulf area from louisiana to florida panhandle can get quite soggy and miserable. and it doesn't even let up during winter. south padre has more consistent dry weather for good beach experience.
