There is a thread on the texas forum.

The burgers ok, but it is the fries that are really good.

Im in cali now and have eaten and in-n-out 4 times in the last 2 weeks. I once missed a flight getting one last in and out.

I still like houston's burgers the best.

No, In-and-Out is coming to Garland. It is, thankfully, not invading the sacred space of Dallas proper quite yet.

Damn, hope they make it down here to the Austin area...I love them - especially "protein style" (burger with lettuce leaves, rather than buns).

They are the one thing I miss about California!

It's impressive that Texas will be the first location outside their west-coast "zone". They used to talk about how they would never build a restaurant where they couldn't truck the beef in fresh the same day (I think it was a 500 mile limit). So for the Garland location, we have to assume they are making a new distribution arrangement -- that will mean many Texas locations.

Interesting choice of Garland. The shopping center where it is going is very nice, kinda like the domain (outdoor shopping mall), but the rest of Garland isn't great. Lots of families, though, and a huge population (mega suburb). There will be enormous lines. It will be the new regular pastime for every high school student in the city, Garland is that kind of place.

Yes, it will need to be a huge In N Out. There is one in Barstow on the drive from SoCal to Vegas that is a must stop. That In N Out is twice the size of all the others and it needs to be. I would imagine the first one in Texas will generate those types of crowds.

In N Out makes a great fast food burger especially for a chain. Are there comparable places out there? Yes. Freddy's Frozen Custard is a very good fast food burger chain (Cedar Park, Pflugerville) and is the closest in style to In N Out that I've found here. They even make a "California Style" burger (basically In N Out style) that uses the same type of thousand island-ish sauce.
