Bringing my 14yr old son to Austin, to meet his two sisters 23 and 24 (different mothers). He's never been to Austin.

Looking for a good/fun restaurant around North Austin, Pflugerville, or Round Rock? Looking for a place with a band, or at least some type of activity.

Preferably serving BBQ.

Any suggestions?

Salt Lick opened a place in Round Rock a couple of years ago but I am not sure if they have entertainment there. The Salt Lick Restaurant – Round Rock, Texas – By the Dell Diamond (http://www.saltlickbbq.com/locations_rr.html - broken link)

If you are in Round Rock and up for a bit of a drive I rec. Louie Mueller's in Taylor. Best BBQ in town. It's rustic but the food kicks tail.

If you are looking for something you'll really remember, check out having bbq at the Cele store, near Pflugerville. It is out in the country and does have live music. However, you need to call by Thursday to tell them how many people will be eating in your party. It is a very Texas experience. Here is the website, so have at it.

Salt Lick is a good option as well.

Coupland Inn and Dance Hall serves BBQ and so does the Cotton Club in Granger. They both have websites and the music line-ups posted.

If the Round Rock Express are in town that weekend then he might enjoy hitting up a game as the Salt-Lick in Round Rock is in the same parking lot. They're the AAA affiliate of the Astros. They do a good fireworks show every Friday night after the games that you can watch from the parking lot (9:30ish). You can also walk into the game for free after the 6th or 7th inning to catch the end of the game and the fireworks from inside the stadium after dinner.
