My non-profit is planning to hold a workshop this fall for its Austin/San Antonio representatives and I have been charged with finding a location. We're on a shoestring budget and I'd love to find a restaurant with some fun local flair, but chains are okay too. We'd need to accommodate anywhere from 35-75 people, possibly more. Any ideas??

Touristy, but there is always the Oasis or Salt Lick to give the out-of-towners a taste of Austin. Closer to home, I think that County Line on the Lake (2222) has a nice private room.

Try Matt's El Rancho. They have a huge private room in the back that would easily accommodate your group. This is a famous tex-mex place in town (in South Austin) that LBJ was known to frequent.

I do some event planning for a friend's company, and we have had events at the Oasis. The staff is really helpful and friendly, there are lots of room and menu options, great local flair, and very reasonably priced.
