I just got my USAA homeowners renewal policy and it went from $1000/yr ($1000 deduct) to $1525/yr. Yikes! When I called about it they said they changed homeowner contracts meaning they cover more (which I really don't need) and I lost claim free discount because of the hail storm.

I got quotes from 7 other companies on home and auto and Germania came out the best. Only drawback is the Homeowner deductible is 1/2% which works out to be $1600 for me and their financial outlook on A.M. Best is negative. I didn't know how much thought I should put into that.

Any experience with Germania? Do they raise rates every year?
