My boyfriend just got a job at Collings Guitars in Austin and we have about 2 and a half weeks to find a place to live down there. We are looking for something that would be within a 20minute drive of collings that will cost less than 600.00 a month including utilities. Whether it be an apartment complex, duplex, or rental house the only thing that matters to us is that it's safe and quiet. Any advice as to where we should look would be very helpful. So far we've looked on craigslist, but are finding that most apartments are at least a half hour away. In our spare time we like to go on bike rides, go thrifting, and hike.

Thanks,
Lisa

Okay, it looks like Collings Guitar is out 290 near Fitzhugh, in the Oak Hill area. Sadly, there's nothing on the MLS in your price range in Oak Hill, Cedar Valley, and that general are that pops up on the MLS. I know there are some apartments in Oak Hill and that area (Convict Hill). You might want to work with an apartment locator in the 78735 zip code.

Collings guitars are some GREAT guitar makers! I've had friends through the years that worked there and really enjoyed it. As far as the price range goes, you're probably looking at a 1br. True that an apartment locator would probably be your best bet, just know that in that price range your area etc is kind of "self prophesizing".

If you're boyfriend owns a car and driving, I cannot see any issues living even cental Austin and cannot make it to his job within 30 min.

Heck, I work close to 360 / bee caves, 26-miles from my house and it takes me no more then 30 min to get there.

for the right place I don't think he would mind driving 30 minutes.
