Australia has a reputation as one of the world's most gay-friendly countries - unless you're learning about an indigenous bird perched on a gum tree.

A school in Victoria has created controversy by banning the word gay from the classic Aussie song Kookaburra Sits In The Old Gum Tree.

Atleast we know how the Kookaburra feels about the schools decision.

What about The Flintstones? Are people going to insist that they stop having a "gay old time" aswell?

Because the worlds getting soft, and NO ONE should care anyways? Meaning, no one should care enough to ban it in the first place....

A few years ago,on another forum, a member told us about attending his neighbour's church Christmas concert, where the line in "Deck The Halls" was changed to "don we now our fine apparel ".

all getting a bit too serious.

Bet the principal is regretting his decision.

This was one of my favorite songs as a child.

It was always so amusing to see all the boys cracking up when it came to the "gay your life must be!" line.

No they haven't. By that afternoon, last week, the teacher realised their mistake. All is fine. The word has been re-instated!

"Gay" was replaced by "fun" bc some of the kids were giggling & they didn't want them to disrupt the concert... Stupid & misguided but at least now it's being sung the correct way.

Isn't banning it kinda giving in to people who giggle at it?
