There are a few places where the speed limit is 110, but if I recall, the highway between Adelaide and Darwin used to have no speed limit, or they never enforced it or something until people used to do the canonball run thing and we had all these tourists slamming their ferraris and lamborghinis into trees and killing themselves.

I remember when I was younger, driving the inland route in country NSW going 130-140km/h and being overtaken by the locals. That was the time I ran into one of those swarms of locusts and spent ages peeling them off the front of the car. That trip also involved me visiting Bathurst and get this, when I drove on Mt Panorama, some people had the nerve to drive it clockwise!

Well NT didn't have speed limits on a few of the highways until recently and now it's 130 in open areas.

On many roads that are 2 lane in Australia nearly reasonably populated areas I think it would be hard to go over 100 or maybe 110 due to traffic and road curvature. The old 2 lane Pacific Highway in NSW for instance is rather sketchy.
