Yet it looked like a promising, or maybe ominous, start to the year for rain when we had that storm in March. Probably a good proportion of our annual rain in Perth came down on that day alone! I had to rush home that day from work, as my daughter rang to say it was raining down the inside of the walls. Ran across Hay Street Mall and got as drenched as I could possibly get without jumping into the ocean.

Not too good when we're on once-weekly sprinkler restrictions still

The data from BOM shows that since 1 Jan (and up to and including 17 Nov), Perth has had 59 days of measurable rainfall. Less than half of that of Sydney.

Total rainfall to date is around 486mm with huge dumps on 23 March (40.2mm) and 9 July (40.6mm).

I do not have the data for the same period last year (or any other year for that matter) so have no bases for comparison.

It seems like a low total given it is unlikely you'll receive too much more before the year is out.

Coldie, the hot weather has only just begun so it's viewed positively. Give us a couple of months ... then let the whinging begin!
yeah I didn't like going back there to see the "garden state" all brown & dry.

Drivng down from NSW to Vic over the past few years, you know when you cross the border just from the browness.

Crappy weather right across the Hunter region today, tops of only 21C and showers.
Hunter weather - district weather forecast
Not warming up until early next week.
How about Perth - 39C - unusual for this early in the season.

Overcast & cold today with southerly gales & some morning showers about. Jumper/jacket weather . It's been Novembers since I've had to don winter woolies (so late into the month that is) as well as having the A/C off. Nice to see everything so green & clean

To 9am today: 116 hrs of sun (today was overcast).

Rain ending 9am today:

City (Observatory Hill): 118.2mm/4.65in.
Airport: 149.0mm/5.86in.
Rose Bay: 114.6mm/4.51in.

In the case of the airport - highest Nov. total since 1984 (362mm/14.25in.) and what a marvellous feat this is too! .

YTD rainfall for Rose Bay (147 rain-days) now stands at 1218mm/47.9in. - highest in three years

City: 1059mm/41.6in. - still well below average but highest in 2 years

Airport: 927mm/36.4in. - below average but bettered compared to past 2 years.

Not a very nice heat either. Muggy and cloudy. Hate that sort of weather. It's unPerthy.

Has cooled down nicely though.

High yesterday was around 18-19 degrees give or take. Some more cool days to come then more milder. Certainly a contrast to last November when hottest and driest/one of on record with persistant W-NW winds. Haven't thankfully seen much of those this spring. Also lack of "strong" southerly changes too. Last year's mean min/max 18/26, now currently at 16/23.

What does that mean? "More milder than cool" does not compute.
