This is the part of summer I hate.... Bushfires.

Hope everyone is keeping cool.

- there are also some handy apps for bushfire tracking available

Thoughts with those in Tassie, and hopefully these NSW fires are controlled.

Wow it's hot today (only 10% humidity!). Sydney Airport was reporting 43.2, that's 110 in the old scale. I've never felt it like this in Sydney. I've just about given up on working today and am thinking about Bondi.

+1

Looks like the fires haven't been as bad as predicted, although it was meant to get worse this afternoon.

I don't even want to imagine my apartment.... They said expect 30 deg until midnight ....

Bondi's gonna be jammed packed...

Apparenty the bureau of meterology added a new colour code to its graphics.....to fit in the 54 deg recorded in the middle of the country

how's the heat situation in Brisbane? was listening to BBC and they mentioned the east coast had bushfire warnings. I assume its only NSW and Tasmania, not QLD.

No QLD not really affected.
The fires have been in Tasmania, Vic & NSW. Tasmania has had the worst of it.
The firies have been doing an amazing job. In NSW there were 135 fires burning, or 60,000 hectares burnt.

Well, seems they romped it in
Surely a worry for Fed Labor considering a key reason people chose not to vote ALP at state level was Gillard's performance & policies.

For the first time in 20 years, I am going to vote. I am going to vote Abbot. Sick of the malaise that has set in.
I want Abbot there so we can get back out on the streets and have something to get 'excited' about. Engagement..
