"This brings into question what does it mean to be an Australian citizen - does that mean anything at all?"
- Julian Assange

Apparently Australian citizen Julian Assange cannot freely return to his homeland because the Australian government is more or less in bed with the Americans. The fuller text of his comments in this regard, in an interview with the 'UK Guardian,' is here:

So the question: what do Australian's think of this?

As a Kiwi when did Australia become a colony of USA ?
Damn near as sick making as that sod Howard going off to collect a metal from Bush for sending Aussie troops into combat in Afghanistan.

It's still to be seen if Assange has actually broken any major Australian laws? Though It's no secret, that Australian PM's kiss Uncle Sam's boots and will do anything to stay in favour. It's abit sad really.

Got to remember that Howard was a war prime minister
Of course for some strange reason he missed SE Asia in the sixties, must have been too short.

He is not the first, and won't be the last.

David Wilson, David Hicks, you could arguably include Matthew Norman.

I understand at this point he has not committed a crime, however Im not surprised at some pandering to the US.

Isn't the question really one of who is leaking to the leaker?

Today we hear from Mr Assange what Kevin Rudd said to Hilliary Clinton in private about China last year. When Rudd was still PM.

Was it someone in a senior Australian or USA position who leaked? Is the janitor a spy?

What is the motive?

that is why he can't return to Australia?
