I've talked to a few people here who've never heard of them.
I see these little strainers over the kitchen sink drain that catch food, but they also keep the sink dirty.
Apparently they are used for keeping the sink's plumbing from getting clogged.
A bit gross imho, to have to scoop the debris out yourself.
We don't have one and I don't know anyone amongst my friends who does. They don't seem to be as common as in Canada & the US. We looked into getting one when we redid our kitchen but found them to be too expensive. Three times the price of what we had been used to. I compost mainly anyway.
We have one Coldy!
Have never heard the term Garburator before however, I just call it a garbage or waste disposal unit.
Same here. We just call them garbage disposals here.
My sink only has a trap in it. It's annoying to drain the sink without letting the debris drain into the pipe but, I always stick my hand into the sink and lift the trap a little bit to drain and let the debris collect on it and then take it over to my garbage can and empty it out there. If that grosses you out, just buy a box of latex (or nitril if you're allergic to latex) gloves

I suppose it isn't horribly gross to do that, just I've never heard of anyone needing to do it.
We had one years ago, called a sinkerater, now we save all the food waste for the compost heap.
