Everybody and their brother wants to immigrate to Australia. It's probably one of the most popular countries for people to want to immigrate to. And probably one of the most difficult.
I'm sure they have quotas to ensure populations are assimilated into Australian society over time, which in some cases it happens and some cases it doesn't. I understand why Australia doesn't suddenly want 10 million people to settle.
I don't think it matters what your nationality is, it's just not going to be easy to do unless you've got millions of dollars to "buy" a business visa.
I also think the problem is your elderly relative, you have to be able to show that can support the person with a place to live, health insurance etc. Its not easy these days the rules have been changed, i read recently that if migrants want their retired parents to join them the parents have to have at least $450.000. So don't feel this is racism ...rules are rules.
well I really think the problem is the 85 year old. It is very difficult for an elderly person to immigrate here, even for family reasons. I dont think its racial as at least 1/2 of all immigrants australia accepts are from Asia now.

I don't think that is true, for there are FLOCKS of people wanting to get into America, including Ozzies. For one thing, their credit is ruined there, and they want a new life.

Are you for real?
Mod Note:
Indeed, I believe the member is "for real".
In fact, all the members who have responded to your initial post have attempted to be sincerely helpful. Despite this, you seem determined to hold your opinion that Australia is treating you in an unjust manner due to your racial heritage.
You are more than welcome to hold that view, but if you are not willing to at least consider the other points of view put forth, then there really isn't any point in continuing the thread.
