The US is heading right back into a recession that we really never came out of. You guys are going to do great as you are in the right location where development is happening. You have lots of land and great natural resources...you guys have one of the worlds strongest economies. Way to go Australia! I don't think you will ever see the days of what is happening in the US and much of the world.

Unfortunately the mining industry is hurting everywhere not just in Australia.

I am lucky to be in a profession that allows me to work anywhere in the world. My partner and I have been considering moving to Australia because of your economy and how well you guys will be doing in the future.

I have known some Americans and they have not regreted their decision of moving here. I wish you well if you ever decide to move out here.

Well some have mentioned here about the mining boom. Well there was an recent poll which stated that most Australians dont believe the mining boom has benefited themselves personally.

I've always wondered what people meant by them not benefiting personally from the mining boom. Deposits into their bank accounts? Of course if you're not directly involved or working in the industry, you're not going to directly benefit from it. However, there are indirect benefits and flow-on effects. Probably most super funds have mining stocks in them. Many businesses supply goods and services to mining companies.

When the building boom was on, I didn't hear the same complaints about people not personally benefiting from it. States were reaping billions in Stamp Duty too.

Probably more a class-envy thing, drummed up by Rudd with his ordinary mining profits tax. Scorn being heaped on Twiggy and Gina yet they're the ones taking the risks, investing billions, employing thousands, paying millions in taxes and royalties. Like we should trust the current mob of idiot wastrels with more money!
