I am exchanging a package with an Aussie. I’m from the USA.

I’d love to know if there is something from our country that isn’t found in yours. For example, they sent me Vegemite and that wonderful Christmas in Australia book and CD (Jingle Bells). My five year old granddaughter and I have been having so much fun with it (although I’m still trying to figure out the vegemite as I don’t eat toast).

Do you all have Cracker Jacks there? Twinkies? Pringles? I don’t want to send anything that will melt knowing it’s summer there.

Any ideas you may have will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you and Merry Christmas

Pringles are in literally every convenience store/petrol station in Australia. I see Twinkies around in supermarkets sometimes. Never seen Cracker Jacks.

If you are sending food, just be aware of the quarantine restrictions for importing food to Australia. They're pretty strict. Anything commercially packaged/processed is usually OK, but if you might run into trouble if you're trying to send local wooden handicrafts or the local salami.

You live in the Pocono Mountains, I just Googled them, they look very pretty. Is there a coffee table book of the region that you could send? Otherwise is there a regional specialty jam, hot sauce, marinade etc? Most of the big American brands are in Australia, which is why I suggest something more regional that would be difficult/impossible to get in Australia.

Just some random thoughts.

Thank you. Yes, it’s quite beautiful here. I will look for a book and definitely send the Cracker Jacks. Those are commercially packaged.
We are home to many black bear. I planned to get a bear ornament as well.

We have locally made jams and jellies. I say made because growing in our soil is awful. Unless you have a greenhouse or raised garden bed, you’re not growing much here. Nothing but rocks and clay.

Thank you so much for the suggestions

Good suggestions for gifts have already been offered, but with regard to the Vegemite you can use it in a sandwich if you eat bread. Just butter the bread (lashings, if you like butter), then a very sparing scrape of Vegemite. Yummy, but can be an acquired taste! Lettuce, tomatoes, or avocado can be added if you like. But don't pair anything sweet with Vegemite!

A teaspoonful of Vegemite added to stocks, stews, casseroles can also work well.
