Here is the field.

2 Americain 12 58kg Damien Oliver Alain de Royer Dupre
3 Jakkalberry 19 55.5kg Colm O’Donoghue Marco Botti
4 Red Cadeaux 18 55.5kg Michael Rodd Ed Dunlop
5 Winchester 22 55.5kg Jamie Mott John Sadler
6 Voila Ici 13 55kg Vlad Duric Peter Moody
7 Cavalryman 6 54kg Frankie Dettori Saeed Bin Suroor
8 Mount Athos 8 54kg Ryan Moore Luca Cumani
9 Sanagas 4 54kg Nicholas Hall Bart Cummings

20 Lights Of Heaven 17 53kg Luke Nolen Peter Moody
21 Precedence 20 53kg Blake Shinn Bart Cummings
22 Unusual Suspect 23 53kg Glyn Schofield Michael Kent
23 Zabeelionaire 24 52kg Craig Newitt Leon Corstens
24 Kelinni 10 51kg Glen Boss Chris Waller

With all the overseas horses, it makes it harder. The winners from the last two years, Dunaden and Americain, did well in the Caulfield Cup this year (1st and 4th respectively) though they do have big weights. I rather like no. 24 Kelinni who ran a good race in the Lexus (which was previously the Saab and The Dalgety). There seem to be a few interesting overseas horses, eg Red Cadeaux and Mount Athos, who have good form. I think I will also go with Jakkalberry and will probably back him each way as well.

What horses do others like?

Ah cup time, half of Melbourne have today off too

Hmm not sure.. I like Americain.

Might put $5 on Green Moon, mostly because its being ridden by Brett Prebble, and one day at Flemington he won just about every race he was in (and I backed him in most ) ,...but then again should back whichever horse King of Melbourne Cup has in, Bart Cummings....

I'm not even going to watch the race. That's how little interest I have in the Melbourne Cup.

Well done on your lucky day at Flemington

As for Bart, he doesn't seem to have much in this years cup (Sanagas and Precedence) - they seem to both be over $100 to 1.

Will you be at work on the day? I live in NSW and so it is a normal working day so it is nice to have an hour or so where we can stuff our faces, drink some champagne and watch the race to relieve the monotony of the usual working day. So even those at work who have no real interest in the race do enjoy the champagne and nibblies lol.

When I lived in Melbourne, I did like having the day off but sort of missed the camaderie of having fun with the workmates while watching it.

Are you one of those that backs every horse in the race just so they can brag to everyone that they have back the winner.

Hopefully, someone organises a sweep at work today, it always ends up being me that has to do it but I don't feel like it this year.

I actually don't bet at all. The cup is a waste of time in my opinion.

We should have all listend to Artemis! Well done!

I just went in the office sweep, we had three of them, and i happened to draw the same horse out three times, its name "My Quest for Peace" (maybe its trying to tell me someting)- The odds of doing that are pretty low to start with.

Oh well now for tonights Lotto Draw
