The woman in front of me at Aldi this evening had a whole conveyor belt of groceries (if you know Aldi you'll know how long their conveyors are) her bill came to $120. Not bad.
The AUD is slowly but surely returning to rates that are more in keeping with long term economic fundamentals, so Sydney and Melbourne are not the ultra expensive (but high salary) cities they were only a few years ago:

Most forecasts are for the continued fall of the AUD against the Euro and USD.
Well, maybe it'll be an option to for me to see it sometime in the future then. Currently, the currency and the flight pretty much rule it out as a lower expense world vacation.
