There is an increasing likelihood of a second wave reinfection breaking out. Not just the protests, but the pressure being applied from numerous sources to reopen all aspects of the economy to quickly.

Australia is probably in a better position than most to open numerous sectors but overseas, especially USA and Europe the rush to reopen to cash in 'on summer' business, though understandable is exposing their populations to considerable risk.

Yeah, that’s what I’m afraid of.

The ordinary Aussie is receiving conflicting advise re 'social distancing', lockdown, 'stay at home' etc etc
So the Vic Police boast of writing the most fines for breaches of 'lockdown', but say protesters marching in the street is OK, but attending the opening of the football next week is not ? Games to be played with no crowds, but its OK to march around federation square ? C'mon !
They opened the pubs in the NT a couple of weeks ago, but you had to order a meal with a drink, be seated ( ie no standing at the bar.... C'mon, where in all the medical published papers does it say a meal with beer reduces the chances of contracting the virus ? And hullo ? Today its OK to drink at beer at the pub unrestricted providing you maintain 'social distancing' ie 1.5m apart. Just like the schoolkids, the sports teams playing contact sport, the thousands of campers jamming the opened campsites this weekend....
Its about the Govt controlling the sheeple.....
Australia is lucky we are an Island with no land borders and we kept the great infected out reasonably early. And honestly, it would have been a tragic nightmare if the infection spread into vulnerable Indigenous communities.
But it seems Govts want to have their cake and eat it too.... hoping to be 'popular 'with the voting 'sheeple'...ie let protesters congregate and march along city streets in numbers, but we cant attend a big funeral, or a wedding, or drive over the border to visit family....C'mon !
And lets not forget the big boss of Santos Energy was given an exemption from quarrantine rules to make a site visit to Western Australia....and hundreds of his FIFO employees are forced to stay 'locked down'and 'quarrantine' for weeks at a time away from their families, wives, kids etc... bastardry !!
Its BS of the Nth degree.....
So I sincerely hope there is not a second wave about to occur ( notes....check out Sweden )

Well Sweden went for herd immunity. They appear to be regretting it (at least officially) as mortality numbers are among the highest in Europe. Now Denmark and Norway are about to open the borders with one another, but Sweden will not be included.

It is a refile odd with the protests. NSW not allowing it and other states given the OK. I suppose they didn't want to feel left out in a manner of speaking with other cities around the world that allowed such marches.

Inconstancy, is the big enemy of virus control. Not to mention the continued support of the general public.

Yes I think that during autumn, we will have another wave of the virus, and that means new lockdowns and all closed again.

Hopefully not. It is early winter here and as the weather has cooled down the virus has come under control.

VIC Police is going to hand out yet more fines to the protestors. They've flip-flopped a lot on this which is annoying, they need to be more clear from the start and pick a position to go with, otherwise everyone else just gets more confused.

If these protests today cause a large outbreak then the Greens will have a lot to answer for. Winter, in the middle of a pandemic, with every CMO and the state and federal level saying don't do it and the Greens are going ahead. Another reason why they are not a party of government but of fringe idiots.

The pandemic of police brutality is a greater pandemic than covid. Or so I was told on the news tonight.
