Yes, there is a pushback. The pushback is being driven by the Taxpayers Union of New Zealand.

There are a number of issues being addressed. One of the issues was a dedicated cycle bridge over the Waitemata at some astronomical cost. This was being driven by the cycling enthusiast city council members who live over on the 'Shore. ie - for themselves! Although it has been cancelled, it has still cost the ratepayers several million. It wouldn't have been a bad idea but but running up a cost of approaching a billion dollars when the main bridge itself needs an upgrade and there are other far more pressing city needs for which there is a shortage of funds!

The fight against Three Waters is still on. Government is ignoring popular opposition and is using underhanded tactics. Labor is actually using tax payers money to promote the agenda and is blocking the voice of opposition. There has been a outcry on the labor bribing of city councils.

And on the freedom of speech front, the woke are blocking freedom of speech too! And again, we are fighting them!

A new tactic at play here from Labour re councils - the reinvention of democracy. Seems like the one person one vote model is outdated.

Oh yes, that too! Again the Taxpayers Union fought it and got it stopped but I don't know for how long though. The Three Waters is along the same lines.

It seems a shame that identity politics in NZ has jumed into overdrive.

I grew up in ChCh, but to be honest, I am glad I left around 20 years ago.
I have no problem with replacing place names with Maori names. Anyway they even do that in Wales such as the name of a town: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysilio . That is really funny.

Anyway Australia did replace the former German sounding names of Australian places with Aboriginal names during WW1. It was a great idea.

I been to Christchurch a few times and I really like how the city has been rebuilt from the Earthquake a decade ago.
