I think there are sufficent 'nods' to that place as it is, without that thing on the flag as well. Enough, I say! No taxation without representation and all that stuff!! Rah-rah! ! ! (!)
And why do I care? Well, I still live here...
You're taxes don't still get sent to England, do they?
Australia's taxes overall are very similar to Canada's, and we've had our new flag since the 1960's.
(doubtful changing Australia's flag would low taxation, or give you better "representation")

I love the Southern Cross on our flag. I think that should be kept, as it's the best symbol.
Yeah, no roo either. That belongs to Qantas now, like it or not. It's a corporate logo, not a country's. And definitely not that ghastly green and gold combo. Who came up with that wretched combo anyway?
I think the background colour should be the red of our soil, with the Southern Cross bigger and in the forefront. Keep it simple and memorable.
agree southern cross has got to stay.
Kangaroo's? please no!
I don't mind the blue background -
I think *when* we become republic it wouldn't be right to keep the Union Jack on the flag ...
suggestions for the green & gold - they're just sporting colours - and don't mean a lot to people, (except the "baggy green" - )
Aussie insecurity rearing it's head again in this post, they really have to grow up and accept the past.Nothing wrong with the flag it depicts strength and history, having said that i think it should depict something of the indigenous people but please no Kangaroos, kaola's or wombats.
Nah, just stick some red and white stripes on it, a yellow star in one corner and a red circle in another corner, and praps a syphon hose containing money going the the edge of the flag...that pretty much sums up where we're headed.
Reviving this old thread, wouldn't have anything to do with Australia Day approaching... now would it?
