lol! Oh dear, the little lightbulb over his silly head finally went on and shed some stark light on reality, did it?

I am such a cynic when it comes to govt - of all persuasions. I can't understand how so many people are still so trusting. To give the govt control over the Net is, to me, ludicrous. I just can't fathom anyone wanting that. What made me so jaded?

Oh for heavens sake

Filter goes ahead regardless

He won't back down. The SMH online poll currently has 97% opposed to the government filtering the internet (myself included)

With the net censored, govt would be able to keep relevant information away from the public's eye. Information that shows their policies are full of sh** or that their data to justify their policies is more sh**. I'm sure Labor would have loved a censored net this past month. Oh, errr, to save the children, of course!

because some straight porn sites will not be blocked. Some porn sites classified as "straight", which include what this esteemed senator thinks is depraved (women ejaculating, "fisting" etc) will be blocked.

Not all porn will be blocked.

Mistake number one? Combining of church and state. They already have their bland, white, middle-aged, upper class mitts in deciding "the gays" can't marry because of religious sensitivity. All you need is one bleeding heart housewife to make a complaint about a site deemed "offensive" and BAM, it's on the black list. We have handed over the decision making abilities to a bunch of stuffy old w@nkers who probaly only shag once a month; missionary, five minutes max, no noise making allowed. Anything outside of the christian sexual ideal they were taught at their upper crust private schools will be deemed offensive. Total BS.

had to laugh at this part
"The scheme has attracted broad opposition from communications experts, search-engine companies Google and Yahoo!, the federal opposition and members of the nation's intellectual elite."

which, to me inferred that Mr Conroy was not part of group

As a reminder: you can visit

Open Internet

what really irks me is: as the above quote highlights, there is opposition from industry experts, foreign administrations (notably, the USA), and the citizens of this country. However, Mr Moral Guide believes he is right.
