What was the response of the police?

Have they caught the person?

Does you family know and are they supportive?

I am very sorry that someone assaulted you, I hope you feel better soon.

2 days is a very short time - you might need much longer.

Honey, were you raped, mugged or beaten up? It's important because you might need professional help. If you were raped, you can't possibly expect to get on with your life after only a couple of days. Maybe if you tell us exactly what happened, we can give you better advice. Any one of those three things would shake you up badly and I'm so sorry it happened to you.

Hope, first of all, I'm very sorry to hear this has happened.

Asking for help and getting yourself a support network is a great first step.

I'm not sure where you are situated OR the specifics of your situation but here are some links to forums and resources that might be of use to you and point you in the right direction.

CASA Forum: Welcome to the CASA Forum website

NSW Rape Crisis Centre - Rape and Sexual Assault (http://www.nswrapecrisis.com.au/Links.htm - broken link)

Just noted you're in NZ so I found this link which might be more useful.

http://www.rapecrisis.org.nz/content.aspx?id=18

Even if they're not near you OR you don't think they can help with your circumstances I'm pretty sure if you called they would be able to help you find the support you need.

The other thing is, I realize you've probably got a lot racing around in your head right now but is it possible with all the paperwork that the police gave you after making your statement that they also included a support line telephone number or a pamphlet? They will often do that so perhaps go back through your purse and see.

You could try writing it all out on a piece of paper. Try to be as specific as possible. This may help in your not replaying the scenario over and over again in your mind.

Ok Hope, well that's understandable but quite a bit more than anyone here on the message board can help you with.

Are you able to ring Lifeline NZ? You might have to wait a little while to speak to someone but you will actually get to speak to a person today and they are trained to talk to you and have the resources to help you that we don't.

Do you think you could ring them?

Sweetheart, that's very good advice. Please call the lifeline. You need help we can't give you. You didn't do anything wrong and you need to talk to someone who is trained to help. Please call them right now and let them help you.

Just a note to you to give you support. I hope you will find some people locally, professionals or a support group, to help you work through this. I wish you well.
