Last year's race was marred by extremely poor course conditions. This year poor visibility from torrential rains caused 3 crashes within the first 10 laps. The rain never let up and the race has been postponed until tomorrow.

If Randy Bernard is as smart as everyone inside IndyCar's inner circle says he is, this year's race will be the last.

It is a great course, with very good fan support. It didn't help that Vs. said during the broadcast that it would be on Monday at 1pm.

I hate Vs. I hope next year with the new chassis that ABC picks up more races. The IRL would be smart to nearly give away the rights to broadcast the races next year, just to get exposure.

The IRL can't control the weather. Brazil has a growing economy and thriving race fan base combined with the fact that several of the drivers are Brazilians. Look at it as a long term investment in growing the IRL brand outside the United States.

ABC isn't going to be picking up anymore races.

The irl is a dead duck series surviving on unknown ride buyers with a rich daddy and businessmen like penske that are in it for their ego.

With .2 ratings it isn't going to last long and it isn't a marketable property for any tv channel.

Being that VS is now part of the NBC family, you likely see some races picked up by NBC, not to mention VS likely will change its name to NBC Sports this summer.

Who pays for that?

NBC is not going to pay the irl's asking price unless there is a time buy involved.

The IRL is currently negotiating with ABC to add more races next season to the ABC schedule.

I suspect that Sao Paulo has more IRL fans the the USA does, given the number of Brazilians (and South Americans in general) involved, in the drivers, team principals and sponsors.

If they do it will be a time buy with ABC renting the time out and the irl trying to sell ads to make back the outlay. But I haven't heard any such thing in terms of ABC picking up further races.

The Versus tv package is a half n half time buy with Versus kicking in some money, but as randy bernard as said, they are losing money on the deal.

I work on the series and was at Sao Paulo. We were there for a week with beautiful weather everyday except one with light rain. I swear though the second we were ready to start, it just started to monsoon. It's unfortunate because that track could be really great. It was however, so much better than last year in terms of infrastructure and setup that I'm willing to go back.

If the IRL is smart, they will do as many races as possible in Brazil. The fan base is huge and they have deep pockets.
