For me and my personal opinion--it is out of respect. I love doing it and it makes me feel good! I enjoy seeing everyone else doing it. I feel it brings us together as a nation-- I believe it's called "patriotism", but that's just my opinion!
I agree 100% My problem is my voice is so bad, I can't carry a tune and my kids wont let me sing the "Banner"
I do hate it when "stars" make up their own tune ..
I have heard several at NASCAR races sing it beautifully. Very hard to sing that song well. Hate it when they can't hit the notes and jazz it up to cover.
