Tomorrow looks good. Anyone think they'll run it tomorrow - or will they cancel - or will they reschedule later in the season? I'll probably drive over to Daytona Beach tomorrow if they hold it Tues.
Most racing series drive in the rain..
But hey its NASCAR, a bit of rain and they all turn into woosies..
Woosies? You don't have a clue.
The average armchair fan(you) would crap their pants just driving a front wheel drive mini stock into turn one at their local quarter mile oval at 40 mph, yet Cup drivers should go off into a turn at 200 in the rain?
Maybe you should try it sometime then report back here how it went for you.

I'd guess if they don't get it in today they'll try again tomorrow. After that, who knows, since they race in Phoenix on Sunday
thanks -will visit.....I'm an avid NFL, MLB, PGA fan - now watch me get into NASCAR......tried to follow the sport while overseas, but it never took. Really interesting to see how NASCAR markets their sport - and seeing some of the similarities with other sports - NFL for instance. A lot of the pre-race activities yesterday parallels what the NFL does. The corporate sponsorship of the sport is unbelievable.

I dont question that driving a NASCAR race car can be dangerous but how come all the other racing series seem to drive in the rain, Hows about F1,DTM,Super Bikes, WRC,Imsa etc.etc too many to name..
I can see an NHRA event not driving in the rain but NASCAR? put rain tires on the car..
So instead of questioning my racing abilities why not just explain why they dont race in the rain..
What do all of those series have in common? Road courses.
In the most basic sense, the cars are not outfitted for it. No lights, no wipers, no tires designed for it. The speeds are too fast on the ovals that NASCAR predominantly runs.
IndyCar races in the wet on road courses, not ovals, for that reason.
NASCAR did experiment with racing in the wet on road courses several years ago. Not sure what came of it - it just quietly went away.
Thanks for the informative response dbbd, and yes i agree Nascar is definitely not set up for running in the rain at the moment but with all the tech that goes into those cars they cant fit in some wipers, and rain tires?,
As for racing on ovals? if its raining do what all the other leagues do,they slow down.I just dont think its beyond modern technology or drivers skill levels to race a NASCAR vehicle in the rain.
And no they arent woosies that was just a loose term to get some responses.
