so then every racer going for a higher position should go ahead and slow down? there are a number of reasons why danica got into reed, perhaps reed spun the tires slightly, perhaps danica got a better bite off the corner, perhaps reeds engine skipped a beat. she may finish on average worse than where she starts, but going into the indy race danica was 9th in the points standings which is pretty darned good in anyones book, especially for her first full year in the nationwide series.
The driver points in the Nationwide Series are watered down due to the number of part-time competitors in the series. Only 15 drivers have started all 19 races this season. Of those 15, Danica is 10th. Brian Scott, a kid largely seen as a no-talent who got a ride courtesy of his daddy's money, is ahead of her in 9th. Johanna Long has only started 13 races and is 18th in points.
Car owner points will give a better idea of where Danica really stands. The #7 is 17th in car owner points.
I definitely thought the wreck Sat. was Danica's fault but thats the first time this year she was involved in a wreck of her own demise that I can remember...
When I see money act this way I wonder does the money:
want to give the offspring opportunity they may not have had when growing up?
just want to raise spoiled brats?
fear the reality of their untalented offspring winding up being mediocre commoners?
fear what their peers will think about their untalented offspring not having an illustrious career?
It's safe to say that Menard has improved enough to be officially out of the conversation for "Worst Driver."
I'll take some flack for this... I'm not a fan at all, and find her highly overrated, but I don't think Danica is the absolute worst active right now either.
It's hard to really judge "worst." Over the last few years the "distinction" would be close between Ryan Truex, Travis Kvapil, and Timmy Hill at the Cup level.
