Instead we would get to hear radio transmissions of the team owner telling the beta driver to let the alpha driver pass to collect more points.

No doubt it has evolved beyond just racing on the track. It's a product or brand if you will. Do something to tarnish the brand and loose money, points or whatever else they can take away.
Congratulations on your big 39th place finish, you sure are equal to the amount of media hype you receive.
Obviously she had the hype she had because she's the first woman to be driving, just like the NFL had major hype over Lauren Silberman trying out to be the first woman in Pro Football.
It is what it is, it's only media hype if people like you and I watch and continue to do so.
Eh, she had some good company yesterday. She was running along in the low 20's - staying in the lead lap and out of trouble until the tire blew.
Yeah, she's overhyped, but the 39th place finish is more about circumstances (tires) that also bit a few others.
at Daytona I predicted she wouldn't even lead a lap, I knew she'd get outstarted by Gordon. And that's just what happened. She had very good equipment with a set-up that's always done well at restrictor plate tracks. Was it not a Hendrick engine even?

No she isn't - Sara Christian, Janet Guthrie, Patty Moise, Shawna Robinson came before Danica and current female drivers such as Jennifer Jo Cobb and Johanna Long also were involved in NASCAR before Patrick.
